Blue Sky Home Center was founded in 1991 by Mitch Clarin. Initially a contracting firm, Mitch felt the public demand for a full-service contracting and real estate company. In 1997, the Real Estate Department was added and with that the demand for property management services increased. After adding the Property Management Department in 2005, Blue Sky Home Center's goal of becoming a valuable, full-service resource for both their clients and the community was complete. They now offer home design and drafting services, complete construction management, real estate sales and property management services.

Blue Sky Home Center is locally owned an operated and has many real estate salespersons, a large construction crew, an AutoCAD design & drafting technician and a full-time property management team. Blue Sky Home Center is managed using a team approach-providing employees and associates a safe, productive and challenging work environment that encourages mutual respect, trust and teamwork. They have been consistently recognized as a local leader by several community organizations including the Truckee Historical Society, winning the Award of Merit for their restoration of the Sassarini Home; as well as the Contractors Association of Truckee Tahoe who presented Mitch Clarin with the Founders Award. The Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce awarded Blue Sky Home Center the Small Business of the Year Award in 2002, and awarded owner Mitch Clarin Volunteer of the Year 2006. The Tahoe Sierra Board of Realtors has recognized Mitch as Broker of the Year.
